Statement
With this land acknowledgment statement, Informing Change acknowledges that our Oakland, California office is located within Huichin territory, on the traditional homelands of the Chochenyo-speaking Ohlone people. This land was and continues to be of great importance to the Muwekma Ohlone Tribe and other familial descendants and successors of the sovereign Verona Band of Alameda County.
Informing Change is fully aware that we, and by extension our clients and partners, continue to benefit from the ongoing use and occupation of these unceded lands.
Map comes from the UC Berkeley Centers for Education Justice & Community Engagement website.
Shuumi Land Tax
As part of our ongoing acknowledgment, Informing Change makes an annual contribution in the form of the Shuumi Land Tax, which “non-Indigenous people living on the Confederated Villages of Lisjan’s territory can make to support the critical work of the Sogorea Te’ Land Trust.” We encourage other businesses working on these lands to consider making a contribution on the Sogorea Te’ Land Trust website here.
