“Home,” for us, has taken on fresh meaning in the past couple of months.
In March, our houses and apartments transformed into our workspaces. In May, we moved our office home from downtown Berkeley to North Berkeley, with new cubicles and office furniture patiently awaiting our someday return to in-person office life. And just this July, we launched our new virtual home, a redesign of informingchange.com.

In the midst of all this transition, we’ve been thinking a lot about what “home” means to us.
Is it the stuff and the papers we’ve held onto all these years? Is it the restaurants we love nearby, that we associate with happy hour or a quick bite in between analysis meetings? Is it the pictures that hang on the wall, that we pass countless times in the day, sometimes seeing them, but mostly not?

We talked about these questions of home as a staff recently, and to no one’s surprise, we found ourselves digging deeper. Some of us saw home as a physical space where we can be our best selves in our work and our creative pursuits. Others of us saw home as a space filled with idealism and nostalgia, something we yearn for and hope to someday return to. And many of us associated home with the people with whom we share memories of joy and growth.

We see all these threads coming together in our new spaces.
Our website, thoughtfully redesigned by the folks at Mangrove Web, is a new virtual playground where we can show you who we are, shout from the rooftops our commitments to justice and equity, and share some of our favorite projects. We encourage you to take a look around and explore—our new website is chock-full of lessons learned from over 20 years of supporting clients in the social sector.

And our new office on 1841 Berkeley Way promises to be a space where, when it’s safe enough to gather in person, we carry the long-held Informing Change tradition of collaborating, learning, and celebrating with each other and our clients. We can’t wait to see how this space will hold and nurture our relationships, which are so essential to who we are and how we work.
