California Competes

California Competes, an organization working toward improved policies and practices in California higher education, launched a project to explore the extent to which the current California community college finance structure provides access to California’s most needy populations. Specifically, the project identified inequities in the current local and state funding formulas for California community college districts and proposed changes to the formulas that better reflects local needs.

As part of this applied research project, Informing Change  assessed and analyzed the extent to which public funding satisfies the needs  of community college districts’ populations and how the current funding formula affects the capacity of community college districts to adequately serve students.
